In version 2.3 all the data updating was handled by the apps background process to make sure widget, app and Apple Watch complications are 100% in sync. But all the users who love the widget but never open the app and doesn't have an Apple Watch stopped getting updates when the app wasn't used. Now the update process has been re-enabled for the widget. If you have an Apple Watch and find it frustrating to see that it sometimes takes a little while before it shows the same data as the widget you can disable the «widget updates data» switch under settings -> Widget settings within the app. Reviews in the App Store for past versions are hidden after every update. If you like widget weather, please spend a minute and update your positive review (you don’t have to rewrite it, just reconfirm it). It helps app visibility a lot!
