What is your experience in ASO and what led you to pursue ASO as a profession?
My ASO career started out of pure necessity when I launched my first mobile application, Giffiti, back in 2015. Even with first week press coverage from TechCrunch and TNW, we saw our organic installs dwindle week over week. Without a marketing budget our only channel was organic, and I quickly learned as much as I could about ASO.
Since then I’ve applied my ASO learnings at Pic Collage and currently Keepsafe, helping grow user-bases in both the US and internationally.
What need or problem motivated you to search for a solution like AppTweak and how does our tool answer to it?
The consolidation of relevant metadata within a single dashboard helps me quickly survey the heartbeat of Keepsafe’s 9 mobile applications (and that’s just one language!).
You also can’t beat the amount of keywords that AppTweak gives you compared to competitors in the space.
What advice would you give to someone just starting with ASO? What should they keep in mind? Where should they start?
ASO can quickly become overwhelming, especially when you begin optimizing for different languages. I’ve found that I have the most impact by focusing only a few high-value markets at a time, pushing consistent optimizations with each new version of the app until we’re hit our goals.
Can you give us an example of a major ASO decision you made and how it impacted your business?
Restructuring the order of our app name on the App Store. A core keyword phrase was being truncated by the install button in Apple Search. Moving this phrase to the front of the title increased our installs by 15% overnight, and has helped us increase our ranking for that phrase drastically.

What is the biggest ASO challenge you’d like to overcome in the coming months? How are you going to attack it?
Scaling out our localization efforts to a small, automated team.
