Also, check out the table below to see the Top 15 most popular keywords in the App Store for the countries: US, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Spain.

It’s not surprising to see that some keywords that appeared in the Top 15 of all 5 countries at the beginning of the year up until May are still appearing in the Top 15. Keywords like Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook have been popular keywords for a while now and keep proving the brand power held by these apps globally.

The Top 15 is clearly characterized by branded terms with Instagram staying the first brand across all 5 countries since January 2019, with a consistent average volume of 98. Moreover, some of those keywords even appear multiple times in the list under the brand name or a variation of the brand name. For instance, Tik Tok appears sometimes twice in the same country under different variations: “Tik-tok” or “Tik tok”.

Some new brand keywords like Faceapp appeared during the summer, while others like Google and Badoo have slowly disappeared from the Top 15. Google and its combinations, in particular, have been disappearing from the Top 500. For example, from the beginning of the year to the Summer, “Google” decreased its appearances, as it went from appearing 16 times to only 4 in the Top 500 most searched terms of the US Apple App Store.

Pro tip: Using other trademark keywords in your metadata can be tempting to bring a lot of traffic, but is punished by the Apple Store reviewers.

Finally, compared to the first half of the year, more generic keywords appear in the Top 15 for the summer across all 5 countries. The word “games” comes back multiple times in the Top 15 under different languages: “Games”, “Jeux”, and “Juegos” or the word “free” that appears in 2 different countries under “Gratis” and “Gratuit”.
