Tinder is the most downloaded dating app of the past 6 months, with an incredible high of 66.1K daily downloads across the US and Europe, just one week before Valentine’s Day.

Bumble and Badoo closely run after Tinder. With a strong boost of downloads at the beginning of 2022, Bumble was dangerously close to Tinder.

Match Group dominates the dating space

Match Group, which counts Tinder, Hinge, Plenty of Fish, OK Cupid, Meetic, Match.com, and a few more niche players in its portfolio, dominates the dating space. According to our estimates, the Match Group accounts for more than 56% of total downloads, taking the majority of the pie. Magic Labs, which owns Bumble and Badoo, accounts for 33% of total downloads.

Downloads for dating apps grew 32% in January 2022

The overall downloads for dating apps grew by 32%, with Meetic growing the fastest. Downloads more than doubled in January, accounting for a growth of 106%. Thanks to this fast growth, Meetic is closing the gap with Badoo.

Badoo is more popular than Bumble in Europe

Tinder is one of the top 3 most popular dating apps across the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy. Bumble, the other leading app in North America, is generally not among the most popular apps in Europe. Instead, Badoo tops the charts. Over the past 6 months, Badoo was the most popular dating app in France, Spain, and Italy.

Happn, a popular French app, matches users with people they have crossed paths with.

Meetic, another French dating app and owned by the Match Group, did not make it to the top 3 in France, but they did in Spain.
