What is your experience in ASO and what led you to pursue ASO as a profession?

I have started working on ASO 3 years ago when I joined Rocket Internet. It was the first project I had - to set up the process of ventures support in ASO and the benchmark, find the tool and establish the relations with them.

What need or problem motivated you to search for a solution like AppTweak and how does our tool answer to it?

Market research showed:

  1. Many tools were limited in number of countries,
  2. Tools mostly were focus on USA market which is not the case of companies I work with,
  3. Easy two-ways communication (not just selling the tool, but also listening to the client).

AppTweak met the last criteria from the beginning (the first meeting), and after discussion of the methodology of getting the data and features expansion plans - it was obviously the best fit for our requirements.

What advice would you give to someone just starting with ASO? What should they keep in mind? Where should they start?

Look at your competitors (for getting ideas, standing out from the crowd, etc), don’t start with classic off store A/B tests when there’s not enough users, localise as much as possible (logo and creatives too).

Can you give us an example of a major ASO decision you made and how it impacted your business?

Setting up a benchmark across all companies - as a document with a score and side by side comparison of apps it has much bigger impact on the decision-making when it comes to ASO managers proposals to CMO (invest in ASO, change creatives, etc.). It’s easier to see the results, impact and get approval.

What is the biggest ASO challenge you’d like to overcome in coming months? How are you going to attack it?

Open the black box of search ads, trying to define the structure and strategy of the most effective and efficient work with it. Simply by trying - the more accounts to work with - the more experience and basis for the conclusions.

If you could create a “super app”, what would it do?

Some art-related app. With the historical data (artists names, works, movements) presented in a more interactive way (look at old Polyfauna app - it’s intuitive).
